SASREF Drone and Robotic Inspection

About the work

ATINUM is delivering drone and robotic inspection services for SASREF refinery facilities under a contract awarded in 2025. The ongoing project covers internal and external inspections of storage tanks, pressure vessels, process piping, flare systems, and other difficult-to-access industrial structures. The scope also includes ultrasonic thickness measurement, thermal imaging, multi-gas detection, and underwater inspection using remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). Through these technologies, ATINUM supports safer and more efficient inspection operations, reducing personnel exposure to hazardous environments while providing inspection data to support asset integrity assessment and maintenance planning.

Objective

• Conduct internal and external visual inspections of storage tanks, pressure vessels, process piping, flare systems, and confined spaces.
• Identify visible defects, including corrosion, cracks, leaks, coating deterioration, and structural damage.
• Perform ultrasonic thickness measurements to assess the condition of industrial equipment and structures.
• Conduct infrared thermography and multi-gas detection to identify abnormal heat signatures, hazardous gases, and potential leaks.
• Inspect underwater pipelines, tanks, equipment, and submerged infrastructure using ROV technology.
• Reduce personnel exposure to hazardous environments and provide detailed inspection data to support maintenance planning.

Goal

To improve the safety, efficiency, and reliability of industrial asset inspections at SASREF refinery facilities through drone and robotic technologies, enabling early identification of potential defects, reduced personnel exposure to hazardous environments, and better maintenance planning through accurate inspection data.
